Within just a few hours, I was flying through combat, managing a bunch of colonies, and maintaining faction relations with ease. The game provided a tutorial that barely took an hour to complete, but managed to teach me just enough to get going on the campaign immediately afterwards. With Planetfall though, I had no such difficulty getting into things. That'll save you a lot of annoyance when playing them.Great learning curve. As with most 4X strategy games, one thing I dread is having to spend hours reading and going through tutorials just to grasp the basics and get rolling. I'd recommend playing all classes at least once in a random map before using them in the campaign, to get a feel for how they work. I really want to note down here that the campaigns are pretty difficult compared to random maps - not really beginner content. After all, they are pretty carefully balanced, which could be upset more than a bit by having other DLC's sometimes be there, and sometimes not. This is to give them the same experience regardless of whether or not you have them. No, the campaigns are unaffected by the other DLC's. I understand there are additional campaigns in the DLC, but will having the DLC alter the campaign in the original and deluxe edition of the game? For instance, if there is a change to the available structures, the economy or diplomacy system, would these be present in the campaign mode in the original game? I mainly only ever play the campaign mode in these games. Originally posted by modraneth:I just bought the game.
